What To Expect

A typical service will last about 80 minutes. We sing a good mix of contemporary music that is led by our worship team. There is childcare available during each service.  Plan to hang around after the service for fellowship and meeting new people.

We know it can be a little unnerving to visit new places or step into a new thing, especially when you’re not exactly sure what to expect.

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions. We hope these will give you a picture of New Hope Church and make your first visit with us a little easier.

I’m not used to going to church, is it OK that I come just to see what it is like?

Absolutely. You will not be pressured to join anything or quizzed about what you know. New Hope Church is open to everyone and we want it to be a comfortable place for those who are curious about God but have never felt comfortable in a traditional church. We want New Hope Church to be a place where you can feel welcomed yet at the same time wrestle with who God is and what he wants for you. It’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out yet.

What kinds of things will happen when I get there?

New Hope Church has always been a place where we keep it very simple. It’s relaxed but focused. We don’t need to be flashy or put on big productions for people to meet God. We follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church.

We spend some time singing together (a means of worshipping God). Before you panic about singing in front of others, you need to know a few things. First, if you don’t want to sing, you don’t have to. Second, you don’t need to know the songs because the words are projected on a screen in front of the room for everyone to see.

We pray. Again no need to panic. You will not be asked to pray out loud.

We listen to a message that is derived from a passage from the Bible. You may or may not be familiar with this passage, you don’t need to be. But we do know that it is highly likely that you will be “challenged” by what you hear, whether you are already following Christ or not.

We reflect and respond to the scriptures by taking Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper every third Sunday of the month. Anyone who is a believer in Jesus Christ is invited to join us in this reminder of Christ’s precious sacrifice for us.

Can I bring my kids and, if so, is there anything for them?

Absolutely! New Hope Church is a family friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and should be included in the life of the church. Your children can stay with you throughout your time with us or they can go downstairs to our ‘Kids Church.’ Go in the phone booth (you’ll see it when you come in)and take your child (children) to the appropriate age group gathering and they will have fun learning about God and the Bible. Their learning time starts and ends at the same time of the adult church.

What do the Elders (pastors) talk about?

All the messages at New Hope Church are  taken directly from the Bible and are practical in nature. We believe that God is actively involved in our everyday lives. We present the timeless truths of the bible in a format that is easy to understand, even if you’ve never been to church. Typically, messages are linked together in a series as we work our way through the Bible in it’s entirety, so that we may fully understand God’s truth in context. If you are coming in the middle of a series, that’s not a problem because each message is understandable by itself. If you want to get caught up, then you can listen to earlier sermons in our app. You can download that here.

What should I wear?

At New Hope Church, you’re welcome to wear whatever you’d like. There is not set dress code, although the attire is more on the casual side. Just be you.

Will you ask me for money?

There is an opportunity during our worship time for those who participate in the life of New Hope Church to give their tithes and offerings as a personal act of worship. However, nobody is pressured to give anything.
